A full-day course built for WA mining supervisors. Know your legal duties. Protect your team. Lead with confidence.
The Problem
The WA Work Health and Safety (Mines) Regulations 2022 introduced Regulations 55A–55D — making it a legal duty for every PCBU and their supervisors to identify, assess, and control psychosocial hazards.
Ignorance is no longer a defence. Psychological injury claims average 30 weeks off work — six times longer than physical injuries. The cost to your business, your people, and your culture is real.
This course gives you the knowledge, tools, and language to lead confidently — and compliantly.
Who It's For
This isn't a generic HR course. It's built from the ground up for WA mining — the language, the scenarios, the legislation.
Surface and underground supervisors responsible for day-to-day team management and wellbeing.
Crew leads, shift supervisors, and leading hands who influence team culture and daily wellbeing.
SSE, mine managers and operations managers with due diligence obligations under Section 27.
Safety reps, WHS advisors, and HR professionals responsible for psychosocial risk management.
Course Content
Six modules plus two hands-on workshops. You leave with tools you can use on Monday.
The scale of the problem in WA mining. FIFO context, psychosocial risk data, and why psychological health is now a legal priority — not a soft skill.
WHS Act 2020 Sections 19, 27, 28, 47. Regulations 55A–55D explained in plain language. What compliance looks like — and what a breach looks like.
The 12 psychosocial hazard categories from the WA Code of Practice. A four-step risk assessment model. Hierarchy of controls applied to psychological risk.
How everyday leadership decisions create or worsen psychosocial risk. A structured audit framework so you can review decisions before and after they're made.
Psychological safety frameworks (Edmondson, Clark). The PFA model — Prepare, Look, Listen, Link. Early intervention and the Traffic Light model.
Each participant leaves with a personal leadership action plan. Three specific commitments. A welfare pledge. 30/60/90 day check-in structure.
Workshop 1 — Hazard Mapping: Participants map real psychosocial hazards from their own workplace using the 12-category framework and build a control plan.
Workshop 2 — Case Study Leadership: Scenario-based decision making. Teams work through a realistic site incident and apply the Decision Audit and PFA frameworks in real time.

From the Industry
"I've done dozens of safety courses over 20 years in mining. This is the first one that actually talked about what's happening on the tools — not just what the legislation says."— Shift Supervisor, Iron Ore Operation, Pilbara
"The Decision Audit alone was worth the day. I now think differently about how my roster decisions land with my crew. It's changed how I lead."— Operations Team Leader, Gold Mine, Kalgoorlie
"The app is genuinely useful. I've pulled up the PSA Checklist twice since the course when I've had concerns about someone on my crew. That's real value."— Underground Supervisor, Nickel Operation, WA
The Day
Structured for working professionals. No filler. No death-by-PowerPoint. Practical workshops, real scenarios, and tools you'll actually use.

Yes. For groups of 12 or more, SkillReady can deliver this course at your site, office, or a location of your choice. Contact us to discuss group pricing and scheduling. On-site delivery is particularly popular for mine sites wanting to train an entire supervisory cohort.
The course is designed around the WA Work Health and Safety Act 2020 (sections 19, 27, 28, 47) and WHS (Mines) Regulations 2022 (Regulations 55A–55D). It also references the WA Code of Practice for Psychosocial Hazards 2022 and ISO 45003:2021. Content is specific to Western Australia — it is not a generic national course.
20 multiple-choice questions covering all six modules. Participants need to demonstrate understanding of key concepts — it is pass/fail. The assessment is completed on the day using the PsychSafe digital app. Participants who do not pass on the first attempt may re-sit at the next available session at no additional cost.
Every registered participant gets ongoing access to the PsychSafe digital platform — a mobile-friendly app containing your tools (Pre-Decision Screen, Risk Matrix, PSA Checklist), your personal Action Plan, Team Pulse check-in, and all course materials. Access continues beyond the training day so you can use these tools back on site. No additional subscription required — it's included in your course fee.
Full refund if cancelled more than 14 days before the session. A credit for a future session is available if cancelled within 14 days. Substitutions (sending another person in your place) are accepted at any time at no cost. Please contact SkillReady directly to arrange changes to your booking.
